Along with the roses, an emphasis was also given to the trees of medicinal value and some unique species of trees to enhance the beauty of the garden. The annual “Festival of Gardens” is organized in the Rose Garden in the month of February and is listed in the “National Calendar of Events”.
GOVERNMENT MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY
The Government Museum and Art Gallery came into existence when the country was partitioned, is located in Sector 10-c. It dedicated to natural history, art, architecture, and portraits. Its collection includes over 4000 Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings, and over 600 Buddhist Sculptures from the Gandhara region in present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan. The museum is approximately 2 1/2 km’s from the bus stand, 9 km’s from the railway station and 12 km’s from the Chandigarh airport. To reach Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10-C, Chandigarh from the Bus Stand in Sector 17, either one can take a cycle rickshaw, auto or a local bus (no. 1, 10, 31, 75, 123, and 149).
ChattBir Zoo (formally Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park), is a zoological park situated close to Zirakpur, India and is an abode to a large variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles. The lion safari is the most interesting part about the Chattbir Zoo. The zoo consists of around 950 animals as well as birds which belong to around 85 species. The Open Hand Monument is a symbolic structure located in the Indian Union Territory Chandigarh India, designed by the architect Le Corbusier. Tower of Shadow built by the creator of Chandigarh Mr. Le Corbusier located close to the Legislative Assembly in the Capitol Complex. This airy, partially-open pavilion is a symbolic structure which reflects Le Corbusier’s interest in studying the penetration of sunlight inside a building. It traces the path of the sun through shadows. it is easily accessible by public transport.
CHANDIGARH GOLF CLUB
Chandigarh Golf Club is an exclusive private member-only golf club in Chandigarh. It is located just south of Sukhna Lake and adjacent to the residence of Punjab Governer in Sector 6. India 7,202 –yard, 18 holes, and par 72 courses is known for its tight fairways. The club has been home to some fine professional golfers, the most noted being Jeev Milkha Singh, the first Indian to compete on the European Tour and at the Masters.
